My purpose(s) this weekend in checking on the bees was to 1) see if there was capped brood, which would let me know that the queen was still laying and in good health, and 2) estimate honey stores as we go into the colder fall/winter months. The goldenrod bloom is nearing its end, so nectar and pollen gathering will slow down over the coming week. Fortunately, two out of my three hives were bursting with honey and brood; I'm going to have to combine the third, weaker hive with one of these stronger two.
Creating a Digital Learning Hub has proven to be no less messy and no less purpose-driven. The purpose of this Digital Learning Hub is to archive all of my coursework in the ITDML program, multimodal tutorials and lesson/unit plans. It will also serve as a reflective tool through which I can communicate and collaborate with my PLN. As I continue to open new hosting sites and check them for content support and future potential, I am making a mess - confusing things, making things sticky and undoing what organization I thought I had created last semester. I am hopeful that over time I can 'put the cover back on' one place that I call my Hub and be assured that order will be restored. For now, it's time to refocus and forge ahead.
