The purpose of my Digital Learning Hub would be varied and multi-dimensional. It's primary function will be to advance digital literacy in K-12 through pedagogical strategies. It will also fill the need for educational technology resources and provide open content resources to the folks in my PLN. The hub would not contain 'how-to' videos like the Digital Texts and Tools Online Repository (why reinvent the wheel?) but could have curricular connections to digital content and tools with strategies for implementation. My audience would hopefully consist of educators looking to bounce ideas off of each other, curriculum/technology integration specialists, and if I'm lucky, administrators who are interested in advancing technology within a school district.
Embedded within this Digital Learning Hub will be educational resources, a blog, social media connections, shares from social media, sample curriculum and lesson plans, and open content. Because discussion and collaboration are so important, shared content and the blog will hopefully be the most utilized components of the site.
For now, I have secured the domain www.digitalfluencyed.com and am using Weebly to maintain it. My biggest reservation about Weebly is the number of spots a blog commenter has to fill in in order to leave a response. In contacting the folks at Weebly, I was told that modifications to this area were not presently possible, but that they are working on a solution that will make it easier for blog visitors. In the meantime, I have put social networking and contact buttons on each page to facilitate networking, communication and collaboration.
I welcome feedback, comments, email, thoughts and critiques. The more input I have from visitors, the better this site will be utilized. Thank you!
